Job #1: Online Community Organizer
Author Seth Godin predicts Online Community Organizer will be the job of the future and never lack work. I agree, actually, the future is here for many sports sites we all work on now. As sites become more and more social a even greater need for leaders to evangelize and nurture sites into a vibrant social destinations becomes even more important. I’m attempting to do this with the Chargers...

His presentation was not only useful for bloggers but any site that wants to understand how search engines work and index site. Stephanie Booth did a nice live blog on Matt’s talk, check it out. I’m having a really...

At WordCamp ‘07
I made it to San Francisco, via Hwy 101, BART, and a pair of shoes. I’m very excited to meet new and interesting people who are using WordPress. The day started out great, helped cary about 500 gallons of water to the second floor of the Swedish American Hall. Listening to a demo on PodPress, only negative so far is the Internet died. Update: Internet back up! (via DigiSpo by Joel Price)

Displeasure continues with NFL online rule
With the start of NFL training camps and the first preseason game right around the corner, newspapers are making it known the displeasure of the new NFL policy that limits video usage. One AP story claims the new rule will only allow “time to get in one question and part of an answer.” With the newspapers business struggling to keep its influence they have looked to online video as a way to build...

Report: NFL online revenue $170 million
Last month Newsweek reported MLBAM, the internet arm of baseball, raked in $400 million in revenue. Today Adam Thompson of The Wall Street Journal reports the NFL made $170 million in online revenue. Now that the NFL has brought NFL.com operations in-house will we see a drastic increase in online revenue? I assume with more control and the ability to closely integrate NFL Networks with the new...

Bears most tech savvy NFL fans?
This is not a scientific study, far from it and I’m sure it’s flawed, however it might have some merit. The assertion that the Chicago Bears has the most tech savvy fans is simply based on my observation on how many del.icio.us users bookmark a team site. I’m assumimg most people who use del.icio.us are “tech savvy.” I’ve asked several people over the last few days if they use del.icio.us. Most...

Hey! What you looking at?
It’s not fair that the best designed NFL team site doesn’t get a little ribbing. I just can’t resist. It has to do with an auto thumbnail glitch. Many content management systems create a thumbnail automatically this can comein handy when you have a dynamic site that bubbles up content on pages without human intervention. It helps make a site look much fresher without creating extra work. However,...

New AtlantaFalcons.com launches
Late Saturday night the Atlanta Falcons flipped the switch on the newly designed website. The site breaks the traditional look that many NFL team sites follow.
